Barberstown Castle is a charming four-star 13th-century castle hotel set in the heart of Kildare and Ireland’s Ancient East. Privately owned and managed, this historic property offers a unique blend of old-world elegance and warm hospitality, while being just 25–30 minutes from Dublin and conveniently located for major events and attractions.
The hotel features 58 beautifully appointed bedrooms and suites, two garden lodges, and an impressive Presidential Suite set across two floors within the Castle Keep. Each room is individually styled with classic décor to reflect the castle’s historic character, with elegant features such as chandeliers and antique furnishings. Families are very welcome, and selected rooms can accommodate extra beds for children.
Dining at Barberstown Castle is a memorable experience. The relaxed Garden Suite Restaurant is open seven days a week, while the elegant Barton Rooms offer a fine dining experience on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as for Sunday lunch. Breakfast and brunch are also served daily in the Garden Suite from 9am to 12 noon. Advance booking is highly recommended for both restaurants.
Barberstown Castle is also a pet-friendly hotel. Guests travelling with pets can stay in the garden lodges or in a limited number of designated hotel rooms. Pet-friendly stays must be arranged in advance directly with the hotel, and additional charges and terms apply.
Ideally located for exploring Kildare, the hotel is close to a range of attractions including Abbeyfield Farm, horse riding and trekking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, and several top golf courses. Guests can also enjoy discounted green fees at The K Club, Carton House, Naas Golf Club and Millicent Golf Club. Newbridge Silverware, Kildare Village, and the Irish National Stud & Japanese Gardens are all within a 30-minute drive. Barberstown Castle is also perfectly positioned for guests attending horse racing and equestrian events throughout the year.
